Electrosensitivity: The misunderstood suffering of electrosensitive people.
ANSES (France) recognizes the reality of the disorders presented by people intolerant to electromagnetic waves and recommends their management.
Electrosensitive people suffer from various ailments - sleep disturbances and circadian rhythms (alternating between waking and sleeping), fatigue, headaches, attention and memory disturbances, skin symptoms, hypersensitivity - which they attribute to their exposure to electromagnetic waves.
These can be the radio frequencies emitted by wireless communication technologies (mobile phones, Wi-Fi, relay antennas, etc.), as well as the electromagnetic fields generated by electrical lines and installations or by household appliances. The spectrum is therefore very wide, which makes the problem even more difficult to define.
The most recent scientific studies estimate that approximately 3.3 million French people suffer, in one form or another and to varying degrees, from exacerbated sensitivity to electromagnetic waves.
As early as 2004, the World Health Organization concluded that these disorders remained "unexplained medically", but that their effects were "detrimental to human health".
